I’m shy, awkward and clumsy. Short somehow-human who loves to hug people but is mostly too insecure to do so. So, cuddles dogs and cats instead.

What electronic devices do you own?

Last night I was texting on my iPhone 4, listening to Mahler on my iPad mini and playing Fallout 3 on my computer using an Xbox One with USB plug. It made me wonder how many other people have "polluted" (for lack of a better word) their lives with the banalities of technology.

Lets see, we have two computers, one laptop. Hubby has a tablet. And we have a TV and Xbox 360. I also have an ipod mini but it's the first version that was made. Still works fine. We don't own cell phones.

I have a laptop, a desktop (mostly used for printing at the moment but also functions as my higher-powered mixing studio when everything's working), a 3DS, a TV (no cable), Wii, a PS3, a Vita TV, a Chromecast, and two tablets (Galaxy Tab and iPod Touch). I don't have a smartphone, not need one after all that. I do have a phone that calls people.

Most of these are for consuming media (video streaming/movies) or for video games. On the other hand, if I am playing games with other people, I strongly prefer to go offline. I've got Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, Battlestar Galactica, and Ascension all ready to be played at any time. Other than that, I mostly use my tablets to communicate with people and receive reminders, and I use my computers to create things--I can and do go without from time to time (and that's part of the reason why I keep Shabbat), but computers make the process more efficient.
I don't think you need a smartphone with the Galaxy Tab. I'm looking at getting a Galaxy Note to upgrade for my phone and that's just basically a smaller Tab that makes phone calls, lol.

I've been thinking about enforcing social media blackout times once a week or at certain times of the day- any of the popular social sites I go on don't seem to add much to my life, but they aren't inherently bad, I just waste time on them. I get work quite often through Facebook so I'm hesitant to delete it, but it would be good to be less reliant on checking it when I'm awake at 3AM.

No, I don't need a smartphone, but a tablet isn't the most convenient thing to always carry around with me if I want to access the internet. I'd much prefer a 5" tablet to the 7" one I've got!

The time-wasting factor is one of the reasons I like this site so much more than Facebook. I actually get something out of my interaction with people here, whereas in Facebook I feel like I'm just mindlessly scrolling through my feed until something funny comes up--I laugh--and then I return to wasting my time. My bad habits make me prone to doing that, too; I have a lot of trouble reducing the frequency of a behavior if I don't cut it off entirely.

If you can do a social media blackout, I'd recommend it! It's very nice not to have to worry about any of those things for a long stretch of time, and then when I do return to them they're more interesting.
Oops, I accidentally posted here without actually wanting to. Forgive me :o
While we're at it, might as well... I have a desktop PC, a laptop, an android smartphone and an android walkman and I use them all regularly.

How do you feel about this?
