A girl who got lost in a nightmare and, using her own blood, she tried to change it into paradise.
I’m shy, awkward and clumsy. Short somehow-human who loves to hug people but is mostly too insecure to do so. So, cuddles dogs and cats instead.

Many members join but don't do anything... Perhaps it's due to uncertainties, or fears. This page will provide a clear guide that you can follow in order to hopefully break the ice and begin interacting with the rest of the site!

Note: You can return to this page at any time by hovering over About at the top and selecting Newcomers' Guide!

Filling in your profile

You can edit the contents of your profile by hovering over your username in the upper right, then clicking on Settings. You can write as little or as much about yourself as you like; the more you share, the more likely people are to approach you! You don't have to say anything, of course, but the more you say, the more likely it will be that people can relate to your words. It's difficult to know if you have anything in common with someone who is unwilling to share anything about themselves.

You can also answer a series of Questions by selecting the Questions option that appears while hovering over your username! The answers to these questions will appear on your profile; they're a great way of telling others about yourself!

Sharing your thoughts

Your userpage has a Feed where you write Thoughts. You can write a Thought by hovering over your username in the upper right corner and selecting Think from the drop-down... or by going to your userpage by clicking your username (anywhere that it's displayed) and then clicking the "[Yourname] has written [number] thoughts" thing!

You can also see the thoughts of other members by clicking Feed at the top; the number in brackets shows the number of new thoughts posted since your last visit!

Also, the number in brackets beside People at the top shows the number who've joined since your last visit, not the total number on the site or anything!!

Your first thought

If you are new, then writing an initial thought is a great way to make yourself known! Since you write it on your own page, you won't necessarily be talking to anyone directly, however it will appear in the Feed and may attract the attentions of other members.

If you are unsure what to write, you could try addressing these things!
  • How did you find this site?
  • What do you hope to find or do here?
  • What are your first impressions so far?
This is just a guide, of course, and you can write whatever you like, but these seem like fairly neutral topics without having to bare too much of your soul which should at least allow people to get an impression of what you are like!

Each post - and profile! - has a ♥ symbol underneath the person's display picture, with a number beside it. These are called appreciations! You can Appreciate a post or profile by clicking the heart symbol. You should do this liberally, as it makes people feel their words are noticed and that makes them feel good and encourages them to post more!

You shouldn't reserve hearts only to posts that you absolutely love; rather, give them out to anything that you took the time to read, just to say "thank you for sharing"!

Good Luck!

This site is specifically designed for the shy and socially awkward, so it's entirely understandable that many members will have difficulty posting, especially at first. However, perhaps knowing that everyone else would be understanding - and in most cases would be able to relate to that awkwardness - might allow you to feel less worried about posting! Friendliness is strictly enforced here to make the place as accommodating as possible; members who argue with, criticise or attack others are removed swiftly. This means that you need not worry about being shot down or attacked because of what you decide to share!

With all that said, welcome to Soultome! Now let's hear that first thought of yours!
